Find Your Ring Size
Getting the right size before you buy means a perfect fit first time. Use our guide below to measure at home — it takes under two minutes.
Two easy methods — use whichever you have to hand.
The Paper Strip Method
- 01Cut a thin strip of paper — roughly 10mm wide and 10cm long.
- 02Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you'd like to wear the ring on. Make sure it passes over your knuckle comfortably.
- 03Mark where the ends meet with a pen, then lay the strip flat and measure the length in millimetres.
- 04That measurement is your circumference — match it to the table below to find your UK size.
Use paper, not string — string can stretch and give a reading that's slightly too small.
Measure an Existing Ring
- 01Find a ring that already fits the finger you're buying for. It must be a good fit — not too loose, not too tight.
- 02Place it flat on a ruler and measure the inner diameter — from the inside edge to the inside edge — in millimetres.
- 03Find that diameter in the table below to identify the corresponding UK size.
This method is ideal when buying a ring as a surprise gift — just borrow a ring from the right finger when the recipient isn't looking.

Before you measure
Tips for an accurate reading
- ✦
Measure later in the day
Fingers are naturally slightly larger in the evening. Measuring first thing in the morning may give a reading that's a size too small.
- ✦
Avoid cold fingers
Cold makes fingers shrink. Measure when your hands are warm — not straight after coming in from outside.
- ✦
Account for large knuckles
If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, size up. The ring needs to pass over the knuckle to sit at the base.
- ✦
Both hands differ
Your dominant hand is typically slightly larger. Always measure the specific finger you plan to wear the ring on.
